Leaving Fiji soon....
Bula everybody!
Our Fijian odyssey is drawing towards a close, we leave here on Tuesday morning at early o'clock. We've both had a great time here and met a load of great people, including the English guys we told you about before, (Kev, by the way, let us know how you're getting on mate, and Sai says hello) a load of concreters from New Zealand (Hey Pete, see you in May!), Glenda and Reed, a mother and son visiting Fiji from Seattle, and Ty, a guy from Melbourne heading out to earn his fortune in Vancouver.
We've taken in some Fijian culture, including a Kava cermony (local, mildly narcotic drink made of a plant root that makes your tongue furry), shows of local dance and songs (participation was mandatory), hermit crab racing (I won 10 bucks, get in!) and eating a meal cooked in a lovo, a kind of underground oven. We've also snorkelled a bit and visited the Momi guns, a WWII gun site that kind of looks out of place in a tropical paradise.
We're now staying close to Nadi, ready for our flight on Tuesday in a nice little place with air conditioned rooms (NOT a luxury here, it's properly hot and sticky). I really will try and get some pics up soon, we've taken a load, including some great ones from the New Zealand concreter's last night here, when they all got very drunk and threw one of their workmates in the pool, including the lounger he was passed out on at the time!! We were in stitches!!
That's all for now folks, pics coming up very soon.
