And so it continues....

Hello blog fans, and apologies for not being in touch for so long. To be completely honest, Clare and I have done very little apart from work, sleep and eat (not burgers!) since our last updates. The return to work has been a very rude shock for the both of us after nearly 4 months of travelling.

Last weekend however, we did meet Roisin, a friend of my mate Bean's from his time travelling in SE Asia. We enjoyed a few pints in the Elephant and Wheelbarrow pub in St. Kilda, the claim to fame of this place being that it hosts the weekly 'Neighbours' trivia quiz featuring regular appearances from old Harry Bishop and Doctor Karl's band amongst others. Apologies to those who don't watch neighbours and don't know what I'm on about.

It's mad to think that we've been in Melbourne now for getting on for 7 weeks, time seems to go really fast here. We're starting to make a few plans now for how we're going to see the rest of Oz after our stay in Melbourne.

Clare's parents arrive in Melbourne next week, I hope they've packed their shorts as it's roasting here. Last Saturday it was 33 degrees at MIDNIGHT. I know I'm going to get no sympathy from you guys freezing in the UK, but there we go.

Anyways, hopefully in the next few weeks we'll get up to a few trips and things with Clare's parents worth writing a few lines about and taking a few snaps of. In the meantime, enjoy your nice, cold weather!

-Si

PS: Alastair- sorry to hear about your broken fingers, hope they are better soon!

Well all I can say is do you know what you are letting yourself in for. I was with my parents yesterday as they were setting off and it looks like they are going to cause chaos when they land. They were like two kids on the Sunday though, and it reminded me of the Astra advert and I for once was the voice of reason. I made sure dad had gone to the toilet but I am guessing they were still going to need to stop around Chester for a ‘rest break’. Mum had her sleeping tablets packed but had forgotten to take some before she left in case she had side effects on the plane. (My advice is if mum or dad become a handful, slip one or two of these in their drinks without them knowing and let them take effect, when they wake up just say it must be jetlag).
As I am writing this my parent are winging (or whinging) their way over to the land of Oz. Mum will have just completed another Sudoko with another complimentary carling. Dad meanwhile will be looking for the sleeping tablets so he let the passengers have some peace. All I know they are going to have loads of stories from the flight which they are going to tell you when they arrive. Will finish with this so please let me know how they are coping, especially with the heat. Make sure mum does not burn her feet again and end up at the doctors like the one holiday she went on. Just remember the only people who are really getting the holiday are Don and the Duck In Fog, as the gruesome twosome were leaving Don was tucking into his third whisky and the dog was getting comfy for the night. They are going to have a peaceful three weeks I tell you.

Hi
Just an update on the holiday saga
When we left them at the hotel mum was more excited that she had interent access in her room than the impending holiday.I am sure she has packed the computer(judging by the weight of the suitcase).

The white hotpants have been destroyed not just hid.

And as for Don and the dog,I visited last night just to make sure that he doesn't have too much peace.Kate didn't seem to have noticed that anyone had left, but I did notice that the larger dog bed is now placed in the front room next to the raditor.

Good luck Clare and Simon

Hi Everyone
How's it going? Well at least it's peaceful back home no visits on a Wednesday night from Brock - mind you Jo coming instead this week to surprise Ant- not sure which is worse!!Brock could have done with a Blog, made us fill in the Aussie book at the hotel, two full pages of news and that was only the first three hours! Never mind Clare and Si one week gone already only another two to go. Hope they're not being too much of a burden. Bloody pouring here hell of a day - you lucky things out there. Enjoy the rest of your break.
Lots of love Ol xxx
